After completing a Political Science Honours Degree at the University of Alberta, Jody began her real estate career 21 years ago with RE/MAX real estate central alberta in Rocky Mountain House and has enjoyed working in the community where she grew up and is now raising her family.
Her and her spouse Tom Tensen have a small construction company and two teenage sons. They live on a quarter in the Leslieville area where they have managed to happily combine Jody's love of horses and their love of dirt biking. In the past few years she has become involved with the sport of carriage driving and is working on competing with her team of Fjord horses – so much fun!
In appreciation of the community that has supported her business for so many years Jody has volunteered with a number of organizations including school parent councils, fundraising groups, sports teams, as is currently on the executive of the Stone Bridge Carriage Driving Club.
Jody and her sister and business partner Kim Elliot work in the Rocky Mtn. House area and are proud to be a part of the RE/MAX real estate central alberta team. It’s true that in the smaller centres you tend to practice in all areas of real estate and because of her back ground she has been very active in acreage and agricultural sales. It’s this rural perspective that she brings to the table to help her clients buy and sell property in Rocky and Clearwater County.
Kim started her career in the banking industry. 16 years ago she decided to switch careers and move into Real Estate. After completing her real estate license, she joined her sister/business partner Jody Saarela at RE/MAX real estate central alberta in Rocky Mountain House. She says this was the best decision she ever made. She finds real estate to be very fulfilling, with opportunities to meet a lot of great new people who often turn from clients to friends.
Born and raised in Clearwater County, Kim lives on a quarter in the Leslieville area where she has raised her 2 children and enjoys all that country life has to offer. Small town living has given her a real sense of community and she considers it a privilege to be able to work directly with so many different people in her own community. Her kids often tease her about everyone knowing her. Every time they stop someplace, Kim has to pause for a friendly chat with someone.
Kim sees the importance of constantly continuing her education in the real estate industry and challenged herself to successfully complete the Real Estate Brokers Course last year which gives her further insight into the rules and regulations that govern the industry, and a better ability to do the best job possible for clients.
From quarter and acreage sales in the counties to residential and commercial in Rocky, Eckville and Rimbey, Kim is more than happy to help with whatever your real estate needs are.
